The Forsyth County Public Library Friends & Advocates will hold its largest used book sale to date this weekend.

The fall book sale at the Cumming library branch opens today for members and to the public on Saturday and Sunday.

More than 10,000 books, DVDs and CDs will be available in the library’s public meeting room for the community to browse and purchase, said Lynn Pansen, president of the Friends & Advocates.

The organization opened a used book store in the branch earlier this year. It has some materials available year round, but the spring and fall sales open up the larger stock, Pansen said.

“Our Bookstore at the Cumming Library has been enormously successful,” she said, “but our inventory continues to grow through generous donations from the community.”

Books at the sale are $1 for adult hardcovers and 50 cents for paperbacks and children’s books.

Special collections and signed copies are also available for prices as marked.

The sale opens to members today, but anyone can join at the door. A one-year membership is $15 for an individual, $20 for a family or $10 for a senior.

Proceeds from the sale go toward expanded programming for children and adults at all branches of the library, according to a news release from the organization.

Recent programs include Forsyth Reads Together, FCPL Family Cinema, teen nights and book discussions for children and adults.
