A 21-year-old Forsyth County man has been charged in connection with a recent burglary spree in the Bethelview Road area.

According to the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, Austin Thomas Schwartzenberger turned himself in Thursday night after investigators had issued a lookout for him.

Schwartzenberger, formerly of Lancaster Circle in Cumming, is being held without bond at the Forsyth County Detention Center, authorities said.

He faces four counts of burglary stemming from burglaries Nov. 26-Dec. 5 of homes on: Ballybandon Court in Fieldstone Park; Bennett Parkway in Bethelview Downs; Huntington Crest Lane in Coventry; and Polo Fields Parkway in the Polo Fields.

Sheriff’s Sgt. Scotty Spriggs said investigators are also looking into the possibility that Schwartzenberger was involved in a second burglary in Polo Fields, as well as another in Hampton’s Grant subdivision.

According to Spriggs, fingerprint evidence was used to identify the suspect.

After ringing the doorbell of a home and ensuring no one answered, the suspect would “go around to the back of the home and enter the residence through a window,” Spriggs said.

He added that the suspect “was taking items that he could easily transport like jewelry, wallets, iPads. Then he would take these items to gold shops or pawn shops so he could get cash for them.”
