Entering Saturday’s game against Grayson, the Lady War Eagles’ average margin of victory was 31 points. They managed to increase it.

South Forsyth’s starters played just three quarters, but Sarah Myers made them count as she finished 6-for-7 from the 3-point line and led the team with 20 points in a 65-25 win over the Lady Rams at the Eagles’ Nest.

“I think it was a good team effort,” Myers said. “I just hit my shots today. I think the team worked really hard to get the score high and we wanted to keep it high.

“We work hard in practice and went out and executed. Everyone across the board did great.”

Teammates Rachel Myers (11), Kenyata Storms (9) and Ashley Hannah (8) combined for 28 points in the non-region win, while Tiara James (13) was the only Grayson player to reach double figures.

The Lady War Eagles (4-1) jumped out to a 23-4 lead to end the first quarter. The team never looked back, forcing nine turnovers in the first period before taking a 37-12 lead into halftime.

Grayson (0-4) didn’t have any answers in the second half, as South made the score 56-21 to end the third.

South head coach Keith Gravitt chose to sit his starters for the fourth quarter. The bench players picked up where the starters left off, finishing the game on a 9-4 run.

“You feel good giving the girls some rest, especially this time of the year with some viruses going around,” Gravitt said. “It’s nice when you don’t have to demand four quarters.

“Our girls played hard, and that’s something that they want to do every game. It would have been real easy to come out after playing [Lambert on Friday] and let up, but they kept playing hard.”

South was scheduled to play North Forsyth on Tuesday before traveling to West Forsyth on Friday.
