North Forsyth’s girls stumble every now and then, but they never stay down for long.

The Lady Raiders used a 19-point performance from sophomore forward Caroline Bowns to rebound from last week’s loss against Alpharetta and trounce Forsyth Central 62-28 on Thursday at Raider Arena. The Lady Raiders have now played 40 consecutive games without suffering back-to-back losses.

"It’s something we’ve talked about since I came up here," North second-year head coach Eric Herrick said. "We’ve never lost back-to-back games. Every time we lose, that’s what we talk about. We talk about that it’s time to right the ship and you’re only as good as your last game."

The Lady Raiders (8-2) jumped out to a 17-7 lead behind 11 first quarter points from Bowns and went into halftime with a 31-13 advantage after forcing 10 Central turnovers in the second period.

"This [game] was really important for our basketball team because we wanted to come out and show we can play after coming off a loss last week," Bowns said. "It was really important to come out and play the way we did."

The Lady Raiders went on a 12-2 run midway through the third quarter to take a commanding 45-19 lead into the fourth quarter and finished the game shooting 47 percent (9 of 19) from 3-point range.

North senior point guard Kim Blake chipped in with three 3-pointers to finish with nine points, while Emma Kane led the Lady Bulldogs (3-8) with 11 points.

"We’re more of an opportunity type of team," Herrick said. "Whoever is playing hard and whoever is playing aggressive, that’s an opportunity to score, and what that says for us is that on any given night, any of our kids can go out and get 20 [points]. We have three or four kids who really can go out and do that."

North will square off against Murray County at the Pickens Holiday Classic on Thursday, while Central will play against Banks County in the WCON Christmas Classic at 3 p.m. Thursday at Habersham Central High School.
