West Forsyth’s Danyelle Drummond signed a National Letter of Intent to play volleyball for (Div. II) Valdosta State University.

The 6-foot-2 middle blocker said playing time was a major factor in her decision and she hopes to see time on the court as a freshman. She is already trying to solidify her spot in the starting lineup by playing on a club team and following workout instructions from the Valdosta coaching staff.

"I want to play right away," Drummond said. "I know I’ll have to work for it and it might take some time to get to the next level, but it’s very important to me.

"Right now, I’m trying to get my footwork down and [become] faster."

The Valdosta campus was an added bonus for Drummond, who plans to major in business.

"I loved the campus and loved [my teammates] and coaches," Drummond said. "The buildings are really pretty and I’m close to the beach; it’s a nice atmosphere.

"[My parents] were all happy for me. They know how [hard] I work and they’re proud of me."
