North Forsyth’s girls went after Lambert from the opening tip.

The Lady Raiders stole the ball four consecutive times to start the game and held the Lady Longhorns to 2-of-18 from the field in the first half, as they earned a 45-28 victory on Tuesday at Lambert High School and extended their win streak to six games.

"I thought our effort at the beginning was pretty good," North head coach Eric Herrick said. "We built a lead and after that we kind of just coasted. We played hard in spurts. There’s definitely some areas we’re going to take away from this game that we need to work on…

"We got about four kids that average right around double figures. We’re a balanced basketball team and I think you can attribute that to we’re not a selfish team."

Lochlain Corliss (15), Avery Scarbrough (14) and Caroline Bowns (10) all finished in double figures for North, while Lambert’s Peyton Card had 10.

The Lady Raiders (13-2, 4-1 Region 6B-AAAAAA) wasted no time scoring, as they led 12-3 at the end of the first quarter. Their defense was nearly impenetrable for much of the second quarter as they held Lambert scoreless for more than six minutes and took a 23-9 lead into halftime.

"They’re a fast-paced team, and we know that," Lambert head coach Seth Thompson said. "…They jumped on us early, but we were competitive. We cut the lead to 11 at one point, but there again, we’ve had two good games where we’ve been competitive against two of the better teams in the region. Sooner or later we’ve got to get beyond being competitive and start winning some of these games.

"We’re not there yet, but we’re going to be eventually. I’m real proud — they compete, they compete hard."

North was happy to keep the status quo in the third period to take a 34-21 advantage into the fourth quarter.

The Lady Longhorns (6-8, 1-4) rallied to cut the lead to 37-26 with 4:25 left, but could never get the score within 10. North then went on an 8-2 run to finish the game and remain undefeated on the road.

Lambert will play at Centennial on Friday, while North travels to face West Forsyth on Friday.
