Properties donated to local Habitat

POSTED: January 15, 2013 12:30 a.m.

Habitat for Humanity-North Central Georgia recently received two donated properties to help provide affordable housing to low-income families in Forsyth, northern Fulton and Cherokee counties.

The properties, one in Forsyth and the other in Roswell, were given to the local Habitat for Humanity chapter as part of Bank of America’s national partnership.

The bank plans to donate up to 2,000 vacant properties for renovation or reconstruction over the next three years.

Russ Hayes, CEO of the Habitat chapter, said in a statement that the donations will be a big help to the organization, which joins with families to provide affordable homes.

“The donation of these properties by Bank of America is a tremendous boost to our efforts to revitalize neighborhoods in north Fulton, Forsyth and Cherokee counties,” he said.

In addition to the property donation program, Bank of America Charitable Foundation has contributed more than $22 million to Habitat for Humanity’s work around the world through a national partnership launched in 2002.
