Abortion is wrong under God's law

POSTED: January 27, 2013 8:00 a.m.

If God wants us to be happy, why is abortion wrong if it meets those ends? While God does want us to be happy, we can’t get away with murder. No matter how you look at it, abortion is murder. And even if the parents can’t afford to take care of the child, God will always provide for them.

The Bible specifically says: “Thou shall not commit murder.” But some people argue that an abortion isn’t murder because the baby isn’t alive yet. However, the baby’s heart begins beating at eight days, which is usually before a mother realizes she’s pregnant. But citizens can’t grasp just how horrible the act of murder through abortion is simply because they can’t see them or hear the screams of the 50 million babies that have been killed. God is concerned with life above all else. That’s why He sent Jesus to die for our sins to give us eternal life.

An excuses for abortion is that the parents can’t afford the child. But Matt. 6:26, 28 says: “Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?”

God knows our needs even before we do. And whether we trust in Him or not, He will always provide for us. Even if the parents believe the child won’t be brought up in a good environment, they can still put the child up for adoption.

Two of my cousins were adopted shortly after they were born and are living happy lives. God will always provide for the children and parents.

Contrary to the law of the land, no one has the right to decide whether a child should live or die. We can only hope that the prayers of the faithful will cause God to work in the hearts of this godless nation to turn us from our evil ways, and pray for mercy from God’s wrath on this land as the blood of the unborn millions cries out before Him.
