POSTED: February 14, 2013 5:26 p.m.

Nate Dever, owner of a Cumming-based Allstate Insurance agency, recently received the Allstate Agency Hands in the Community Award for his commitment to helping others through community service.

As a result, the Allstate Foundation awarded a $1,000 grant to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, where Dever serves as a member of the young leadership committee.

Bob Holden, field senior vice president for Allstate’s Southeast region, praised Dever for the recognition.

“The Allstate Agency Hands in the Community Award celebrates the spirit of service and commitment to communities where we live, work and do business,” Holden said in a statement. “With support from the Allstate Foundation, Nate is making our hometown a stronger, safer place.”

According to a release from Allstate, the agency’s foundation, which is in its 61st year, awards $2 million annually to nonprofits across the country in honor of agency owners who give back to their communities through volunteerism.

The foundation gave nearly $110,000 in Georgia last year and has awarded more than $300 million to communities around the country since it began.
