A 43-year-old Forsyth County woman died Thursday afternoon following a three-vehicle wreck involving a school bus.

The collision, which disrupted the evening commute around Cumming, occurred about 4:50 p.m. at Hwy. 9 and North Old Atlanta and Hutchinson roads, south of the city.

The woman, who the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office identified as Lesia Elaine Bennett, was driving a Ford Explorer that was struck by a Nissan Titan at the intersection.

That impact forced the sport utility vehicle into a school bus, which was stopped at the traffic light while en route north on the highway.

There were no students on the bus, said Karleen Chalker with the sheriff’s office, and neither of the other vehicles had passengers.

Bennett was pronounced dead at Northside Hospital-Forsyth, where she was taken after the crash, Chalker said.

According to the sheriff's office, the 17-year-old male driver of the Nissan, Antonio Aguilera Mora, suffered “minimal injuries” and also was taken to the hospital. The bus driver wasn’t hurt.

The intersection was closed for about two hours as the wreck was investigated.  The road was reopened at about 6:50 p.m. Thursday evening.

No charges have been filed and the investigation is ongoing.
