Man sentenced for crash into school bus

POSTED: April 22, 2013 12:29 a.m.

A south Forsyth man who rear-ended a full school bus in August has pleaded guilty to driving under the influence.

Kenneth Roger Drake, 51, received a 24-month sentence, of which all but 10 days will be served on probation, for DUI-less safe and following too closely.

Drake entered his negotiated plea Wednesday in Forsyth County State Court.

Also according to his sentence, Drake must complete 100 hours of community service and his driver’s license has been suspended.

Drake struck the back of a Forsyth County school bus about 4:15 p.m. Aug. 23 on Strickland Road, just south of Hwy. 9.

The bus was taking Midway Elementary students home from school.

No students were seriously injured, though four were treated for minor injuries.
