Jake Dickey has been named the head volleyball coach at West Forsyth High School.

Athletic director Brett Phipps made the announcement in a recent news release.

Dickey comes to the West from Southeast Whitfield County High School near Dalton, where he was the head volleyball coach since 2006.

During his tenure, he guided the Lady Raiders to back-to-back area titles in 2011-’12 and won at least 25 games each year.

Last season, his team made it to the Class 4A final four with a record of 37-11.

“[West] is in a great area,” Dickey said. “Meeting [the administration] and the people there, it looked like a good community.

“I expect us to be competitive and win more than last year.”

Dickey will replace Jim Orr, who retired after coaching the team since 2008.

Although Orr won’t be around the game, he will still stay on to teach English for at least one more year, officials said.
