Bank opening mortgage office

Wells Fargo ‘optimistic about Forsyth County’

POSTED: May 31, 2013 2:30 p.m.

Wells Fargo will be opening a new home mortgage office in Cumming on Saturday.

The office is on the Cumming square at 106 West Maple St., adjoining the site of a current Wells Fargo banking location.

The new home mortgage office will employ 10, but branch manager Adam Rodes said the staff could double by year’s end.

Rodes, a Cumming resident, said Saturday’s opening is “the best possible way to kick off National Homeownership month” in June.

“We are very optimistic about Forsyth County and we are showing that in the most tangible way possible,” he said in a statement.

The opening will include a ribbon cutting with local dignities and a visit to the site by an authentic Wells Fargo stagecoach.

“People can come out and sit in it and take pictures with,” said Jamie Dexter, a spokeswoman with Wells Fargo. “It’s always a hit and we’d love for people in Cumming to come out and see it.”

According to information from Wells Fargo, the company is the leading home mortgage lender in the county, with nearly 2,000 home loans totaling more than $460 million last year.

Loan volumes have been steadily increasing and were up about 40 percent in units and dollars between 2010 and ’12.

The 2,500-square-foot home mortgage office has been owned by Wells Fargo for some time, but has been vacant.

Rodes said he and his staff at the new site are happy to be a part of the community.

“We are so pleased to be a part of Cumming and look forward to growing as we serve more customers in Forsyth and surrounding areas,” he said.

In addition to the new mortgage office, Wells Fargo has six bank sites and some 90 employees in Forsyth.
