A Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office car and foot chase ended in the arrest of two suspects Thursday.

The driver, 20-year-old Connor Dimick of Marietta, and his passenger, Erik Schatz, 18 of Lawrenceville, have each been charged with obstruction of law enforcement officers.

Dimick also faces charges of fleeing and attempting to elude officers, possession of marijuana, failure to yield and stop at a stop sign, speeding and reckless driving.

As of Friday, both men remained in custody at the Forsyth County Detention Center. Dimick’s bond has been set at $6,930, while Schatz’s is $1,155.

According to the sheriff’s office, the pursuit began about 12:30 p.m. Thursday on Peachtree Parkway when a deputy attempted to stop a vehicle whose driver wasn’t wearing a seatbelt.

The driver reportedly sped up as he turned into the Bridle Ridge subdivision, which he proceeded to drive through before returning to the parkway.

At that point, according to the sheriff’s office, Schatz jumped out of the vehicle and ran into the woods,

Another deputy used a special maneuver to stop the car and Dimick then began running.

Dimick and Schatz were both found and arrested a short time later.

Sheriff’s reports noted that, “Deputies located a number of items that did not belong to the two suspects in the vehicle, including jewelry, cash, and passports.

“An interview with them, examination of this evidence, and contact with surrounding agencies led sheriff’s office investigators to speak with Cobb County Police, who questioned both men in relation to burglaries in that jurisdiction.”

None of the items believed to have been stolen came from Forsyth County.
