Woman hit by van dies

Had been hospitalized since Tuesday

A 53-year-old Forsyth County woman has died of injuries suffered when she was struck by a van early Tuesday.

According to the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, Lelia Arroyo died Friday afternoon at North Fulton Hospital, where she had been listed in critical condition since the incident.

The collision occurred about 4 a.m. Tuesday at Atlanta Highway and Bethelview Road, southwest of Cumming.

Arroyo, of nearby Park Place, was walking to her job at McDonald’s when she was struck by a Dodge Caravan, according to the sheriff’s office.

The driver of the van, whose name has not been released, stayed on the scene afterward.

Authorities have previously said they did not expect any charges to be filed in connection with the incident.
