Shelby Posea will play lacrosse for (NAIA) Emmanuel College next season.

The former North Forsyth defender said she wanted to attend a school near home.

"[Emmanuel] is close by and close to home," Posea. "It’s a small school and that was really important. I wanted to go somewhere smaller."

She has played lacrosse for only three years, but head coach Jill Short can already see improvement.

"She is a defensive player who gives 110 percent on the field," Short said. "Although she is fairly new to the game, Shelby has worked hard to improve both her stick skills and speed. She will be a great asset to the Emmanuel team."

Posea is focused on improving as a player during the summer and hopes to earn quality playing time as a freshman.

"[I’d like to] get faster and be able to run more," Posea said. "I’d like to play as much as I can. Starting as a freshman would be cool.

"[I] just want be the best player I can be."

She plans to major in kinesiology in order to become a personal trainer or physical therapist.
