All local lawmakers scheduled to speak

POSTED: June 10, 2013 12:29 a.m.

The community is invited to hear from Forsyth’s legislative delegation later this month.

At 7:30 a.m. June 18, the Cumming-Forsyth County Chamber of Commerce will present its annual Post-Legislative Session Breakfast in conjunction with the Rotary Club of Lanier Forsyth.

Scheduled to speak at the event are: State Reps. Mike Dudgeon, Geoff Duncan, Mark Hamilton, Calvin Hill and Kevin Tanner; and state Sens. Steve Gooch and Jack Murphy.

Laura Stewart, director of communications and events at the chamber, said there also will be interaction with the audience.

“They’ll each speak briefly on a topic that they are well-versed in [or] have a specific area of knowledge about,” Stewart said. “Then we’ll take a question and answer time.”

According to Stewart, the breakfast is one of the most well-attended annual chamber events.

“We might have a little less activity just because of it being summertime,” she said. “But that also gives people the opportunity if things are a little bit slower at work to make it out to a breakfast even during the day.”

The cost to attend is $10 for chamber members and $30 for non-members.

Stewart said those interested in attending should R.S.V.P. on the chamber’s Web site by noon June 17.

As in years past, she noted, AT&T will be the event’s presenting sponsor.

“It’s something that’s near and dear to their hearts,” she said. “Every year, they do the pre-legislative and the post-legislative breakfasts, so I think they just enjoy being able to update business leaders on this front.”

Stewart is pleased that all of the legislators will be in attendance.

“That is something that is difficult to make happen sometimes, so I’m glad we found a date that works for everybody,” she said.
