Northside Hospital-Forsyth named as one of the best in Georgia

Emory Johns Creek and North Fulton hospitals also make list

Northside Hospital-Forsyth recently was named to an honor roll for Georgia hospitals.

The local facility, along with Northside’s Sandy Springs and Cherokee County locations, was named to the Core Measures Honor Roll.

Less than 70 hospitals from across the state were named to the honor roll, which is put together each year by the Georgia Hospital Association’s Partnership for Health and Accountability.

The three Northside facilities were among 17 placed in the chairman’s category of the honor roll, the highest level of the list.

Emory Johns Creek Hospital and North Fulton Hospital, both located just south of the Forsyth and north Fulton County border, were also named to the chairman’s category of the list.

Bob Quattrocchi, president and CEO of Northside, said the recognition is reflective of the quality work of the hospital system’s employees.

“At Northside, we are committed to consistently providing high quality and compassionate care to all of our patients,” he said.

“This recognition is a tribute to the hard work and dedication of our staff, who work tirelessly and continuously to make excellent care even better.”

The honor roll is based on clinical data provided by the federal Centers for Medicaid & Medicare Services, or CMS, which administers the nation’s Medicare and Medicaid programs.

This year’s honor roll is based on data collected from October 2011 to September 2012.

Hospitals are required to submit care data to CMS, which determines how well caregivers adhere to a list of measures that are considered the most effective methods of treatment.

CMS looks at procedures dealing with treatment of surgical, heart and pneumonia patients.

Joseph Parker, president of the Georgia Hospital Association, praised the Northside facilities for their inclusion on the honor roll.

“We are pleased to recognize Northside Hospital [system’s] commitment to patient safety,” he said. “Compliance with these important core measures ensures that every patient receives the best, most effective health care possible.”
