Forsyth County resident Bob Frey joined a gathering of more than 10,000 Tea Party activists Wednesday at the Capitol building in Washington, D.C.

The “Audit the IRS Rally” followed reports that the Internal Revenue Service had targeted certain tax-exempt groups, including several tea parties, for further scrutiny.

Frey, chairman of the Forsyth County Tea Party Patriots, hopped on a bus Tuesday with about 50 others from north Georgia.

He said hearing Jenny Beth Martin, national coordinator for the Tea Party Patriots, present conservative speakers and congressional representatives at the six-hour rally left him “more motivated than ever” as he returned to Forsyth.

Frey joked that the bus ride was “hard on a 78-year-old man,” but he’d do it again with an aspirin.

A statement from Martin thanked those who traveled and contributed to the large turnout.

“This rally showed that the IRS’ intimidation doesn’t stop you from participating in the political process,” she said. “Their suppression merely brings out the power of the American people.”
