The first of a series of three track meets that benefit the Will Davison Memorial Scholarship Fund was held on at Lambert High School on Tuesday, June 25. It was well attended and many local runners were excited to have a venue in which to participate in a track meet.

The meets are being put on by a Lambert rising senior Noah Schaich. His cross country coaches saw a void in the Forsyth Country area for this type of event. Noah was looking for a summer community service project and began planning the event.

All proceeds from the track series will go toward the fund that was set up by Lambert principal Gary Davison and his wife, Ginger, after their son William Clay Davison passed away from Sudden Infant Death Syndrome on July 25, 2007. The scholarship fund awards a scholarship to one graduating senior in each of the Forsyth high schools annually.

With help from cross country coaches Natalie Leonard and Steve Wilcox, along with many Lambert cross country teammates, the meet was staged just like a high school track meet. There were runners as young as 4 and as old as 50.

Two meets remain in the series. They will be held Tuesday, July 16, and Tuesday, July 23. Registration begins at the Lambert stadium at 5 p.m. and the meets begin at 6:30 p.m. For more information or a registration form email WillDavisonSummerTrack@gmail.com.
