Pete Amos has announced his intention to seek re-election to the Forsyth County commission District 1 post in 2014.

In making the announcement, Amos cited his successful 2010 run for office.

“During my campaign for commissioner, I pledged to aggressively protect our quality of life by re-energizing our economy, keeping our taxes low and protecting our position as a leader in the global marketplace” Amos said in a statement. “Today, I am proud to report that our economic forecast is stronger than ever.”

According to his announcement, Amos has a lifelong commitment to the county, complete with a career of civic engagement. His colleagues on the commission chose him to chair the county’s governing body this year.

“While our community certainly has not been exempt from the economic challenges facing communities nationwide, the steadfast commitment of business leaders and our local government has led to Forsyth County becoming home to more than 56,000 employees working in more than 8,000 businesses,” Amos said.

“Our economic fabric continues to expand while taxpayers enjoy one of the lowest property tax rates in the region. While we have accomplished much, there is still a lot of work left. That’s why I am seeking a second term.”

Amos is a graduate of the University of Georgia with a degree in business administration. He is a small business owner whose family has lived in north Georgia for generations.
