PREP ROUNDUP: West softball splits with Archer

Wolverines play deciding Game 3 tonight

Despite trailing 7-2 after four innings, West Forsyth got the job done.

The Lady Wolverines put up a run in the fifth before tagging Archer for five runs in the sixth to pull of an 8-7 come-from-behind victory in Game 1 of the Class 6A state playoffs on Wednesday at Archer.

West (20-11) didn’t have similar luck in Game 2. The Lady Tigers racked up five runs in the second inning and allowed just two hits in the game to win 8-0.

West was scheduled to play a deciding Game 3 Thursday at 5:30.

Brookwood 8-6, North Forsyth 0-3: North didn’t have an answer for Brookwood on Wednesday night.

The Lady Broncos one-hit North in Game 1 of the Class 6A state playoffs at Brookwood to win 8-0 before giving up three hits in a 6-3 win in Game 2 to eliminate North.

The Lady Raiders (15-13) scored two runs in the fourth inning of Game 2 when Sydney Turner launched a two-run home run for her 100th career RBI.
