Prep football: Johns Creek at Lambert

Longhorns look to get above .500

POSTED: October 17, 2013 2:55 p.m.

When, where: Tonight, 7:30 p.m., at The Horn in Suwanee.

Records, rankings: Johns Creek is 0-6 overall, 0-3 in Region 6-AAAAAA and unranked; Lambert is 3-3, 2-1 and unranked.

Series history: Lambert leads 3-2.

Last meeting: Johns Creek won 35-28 in 2012.

What to know: The Longhorns might be the most mysterious team in the county. Despite falling behind 18 points last week, Lambert rebounded for a one-point win against Centennial. The Longhorns have been up and down all season, but shouldn’t have any trouble against winless Johns Creek.

The Gladiators are giving up an average of 40 points per game, which should help a Lambert offense that’s struggled at times. The Longhorns started the game with Tucker Maxwell at quarterback, but swapped to Hayden McLeod after Maxwell was injured late in the second quarter. Although coach Sid Maxwell would prefer his team avoid another slow start, it likely won’t matter.
