Prep football: Lambert at Alpharetta

Longhorns on 3 game winning streak heading into big region showdown

POSTED: October 24, 2013 4:27 p.m.

When, where: Tonight, 7:30 p.m., at Raiders Stadium in Alpharetta.

Records, rankings: Lambert is 4-3 overall, 3-1 in Region 6-AAAAAA and unranked; Alpharetta is 5-2, 4-0 and unranked.

Series history: Alpharetta leads 1-0.

Last meeting: Alpharetta won 35-7 in 2012.

What to know: The Longhorns took their lumps to begin the season with a 1-3 start, but have since turned things around. They are riding a three-game winning streak and need all the momentum they can muster against the Region 6-AAAAAA first-place Raiders. Lambert’s defense has continued to drive the team, forcing three turnovers in last week’s win over Johns Creek.

Alpharetta has stomped region opponents, and it hasn’t been close. The Raiders have beaten each region team by a minimum of 14 points with their hurry-up spread offense. The Longhorns’ secondary will receive its toughest task of the season tonight.
