Pinecrest no match for Prince Avenue

Paladins dominated by No. 6 Wolverines in 42-6 loss

Pinecrest Academy senior Anthony Carco was one of the Paladins' lone bright spots in a 42-6 loss at No. 6-ranked Prince Avenue Christian on Friday. Carco passed for 56 yards, rushed for 38 yards and caught three passes for 32 yards.

BOGART — Pinecrest Academy had no answers for No. 6-ranked Prince Avenue Christian.

The Paladins allowed 483 yards of offense in a 42-6 loss Friday at Wolverine Field in a Region 8-A game.

Pinecrest fell to 5-4 overall and 2-3 in the region with one game left to play against Commerce this Friday.

The Paladins couldn’t stop Prince Avenue, last season’s Class A private school runner-up.

Big plays cost Pinecrest. The Wolverines got out to a 14-0 lead after the first quarter on a 68 yard touchdown run by Max Moorman and a 97 yard touchdown run by Jonah Doster.

Prince Avenue added touchdown runs of 27 (Tyson Herron), 70 (Doster) and 29 (Herron) yards in the second quarter to take a 35-0 lead into halftime.

Twelve players combined to rush for 465 yards for the Wolverines, with no player having more than eight carries. Doster led Prince Avenue with 170 yards and two touchdowns on just three carries.

Pinecrest got on the board with a 1 yard score by Anthony Carco with 2:00 left in the game.

The Paladins managed just 229 yards of offense, led by fullback Andrew Wilborn who rushed for 99 yards on 24 carries.

Carco was 2-for-2 passing for 56 yards, rushed 14 times for 38 yards and a touchdown and caught three passes for 32 yards.
