Authorities: Few wrecks, no fatalities

POSTED: December 2, 2013 1:30 p.m.

Forsyth County stayed fairly safe on the roads over the long Thanksgiving weekend.

The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office handled a few wrecks, but spokesman Doug Rainwater said none were “life-threatening accidents.”

The county had no fatal wrecks over the 102-hour holiday travel period, which ran from Wednesday night to Sunday night.

In 2012, two Forsyth residents died in separate single-vehicle crashes.

Traffic deaths also decreased statewide this year from last, with 15 fatalities reported, down from 21 in 2012.

The Georgia State Patrol worked 556 crashes, of which 244 involved injuries, according to a news release.

Also during the holiday span, eight people were booked into the Forsyth County Detention Center for driving under the influence of alcohol.
