The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has announced that a popular park on Lake Lanier in Forsyth County will be closed for most of January to allow for waterfowl hunting.

According to a news release from the corps, the hunting will be conducted at West Bank Park between Jan. 1-26 in accordance with the federal and state late season regulations.

Little Ridge Park, which is about one mile west of West Bank, will be open to visitors during that time. Also open will be Gary Pirkle Park, about 4 miles to the east in Gwinnett County.

The address for Little Ridge Park is 3295 Lanier Beach South Road, while Gary Pirkle Park is at 6195 Austin Garner Road, near Sugar Hill.
