Annual area economic outlook breakfast nears

An area real estate and economic expert will present his annual forecast during a Feb. 4 breakfast meeting.

Presented by the Cumming-Forsyth County Chamber of Commerce and Alliance National Bank, the event featuring Frank Norton Jr. of Gainesville is set for 7:30 a.m. at the Lanier Technical College Forsyth Conference.

Laura Stewart, the chamber’s director of communications and events, said the gathering is one of the most popular of the year, drawing about 180 people.

“I am expecting 200 this year as registrations have been very strong thus far,” said Stewart, noting that the event is a good way for anyone to start the new year from a business prospective.

“I think this event is popular because it is applicable to the entire spectrum of chamber membership. Small businesses and large companies alike can gauge their business decisions based on the information.”

Stewart said all who plan to attend the event must register by Jan. 29 at www.cummingforsythchamber.org. The only exception, she said, are members of the Lanier Forsyth Rotary Club, which is a co-host of the event.

Cost is $20 for chamber members and $30 for non-members, which includes breakfast.

Norton will share information from the Norton Agency’s 2014 Native Intelligence Report, an economic forecast that provides data on a range of topics, including housing and job markets.

“There are never any discarded copies of the report left for us to clean up after the event,” Stewart said.

She encouraged anyone interested in learning more about the region’s outlook to attend.

“This is one event that the chamber hosts that brings together a true cross section of our membership,” she said. “Since the information is area-focused, it is pertinent to all those who live or do business in Forsyth County.”
