Region 6-AAAAAA basketball tournament to start Saturday

After days of uncertainty, the girls’ and boys’ Region 6-AAAAAA basketball tournaments will resume Saturday at West Forsyth.

The girls’ and boys’ opening rounds will be condensed into one day of action Saturday starting at 10 a.m. The semifinals will be Monday starting at 2 p.m., with the consolation and championship games Tuesday starting at 4 p.m.

The winter storm that covered parts of Georgia and caused schools to close this week thrust region tournaments into disarray. The Georgia High School Association twice extended the deadline to complete region tournaments, first to Tuesday, Feb. 18, and then to Wednesday, Feb. 19.

The GHSA announced it is working to reschedule the first through third rounds of the state playoffs.

Here is the new schedule for the Region 6-AAAAAA basketball tournament:

Saturday, Feb. 15

10 a.m. – Alpharetta girls vs. West Forsyth

11:30 a.m. – Johns Creek boys vs. West Forsyth

1 p.m. – Chattahoochee girls vs. Centennial

2:30 p.m. – Chattahoochee boys vs. Centennial

4 p.m. – Lambert girls vs. South Forsyth

5:30 p.m. – South Forsyth boys vs. Alpharetta

7 p.m. – Johns Creek girls vs. North Forsyth

8:30 p.m. – North Forsyth boys vs. Lambert

Monday, Feb. 17

2 p.m. – Chattahoochee/Centennial girls vs. Lambert/South Forsyth

3:30 p.m. – Chattahoochee/Centennial boys vs. South Forsyth/Alpharetta

5 p.m. – Alpharetta/West Forsyth girls vs. John Creek/North Forsyth

6:30 p.m. – Johns Creek/West Forsyth boys vs. North Forsyth/Lambert

Tuesday, Feb. 18

4 p.m. – Girls’ consolation game

5:30 p.m. – Boys’ consolation game

7 p.m. – Girls’ championship game

8:30 p.m. – Boys’ championship game
