POSTED: March 29, 2014 3:30 p.m.

CUMMING -- A pre-school teacher at a Cumming facility will be recognized by Tylenol.

Kayla Dinsmore, who works at Discovery Point Cumming, has been selected to receive the 2014 Terri Lynne Lokoff/Children’s Tylenol National Child Care Teacher award.

Dinsmore is one of 54 award recipients from across the nation. She will receive a $1,000 prize Thursday during a special ceremony in Philadelphia.

Honorees each designed enhancement projects that illustrate the educational, social and emotional benefits to children in their care.

Dinsmore’s project, called “Fun with Fine Motor,” will help children’s development of fine motor skills such as grasping, dressing, fastening and holding objects.

“My project is also intended to enhance and improve coordination and dexterity by having the children use their hands to manipulate a variety of materials,” Dinsmore said in a statement.

Since the teacher awards program began in 1994, some 789 awards totaling more than $754,000 have been presented to early care and education teachers and providers.
