Former Lambert girls’ basketball coach Tony Watkins has been named the new head coach at Grayson, according to the school athletic department’s Twitter account.

Watkins led the Lady Longhorns to a 6-19 record this past season, his only at the helm of Lambert’s girls’ program. Assistant coach Jaime Fisher was promoted to head coach. The moves were made last Wednesday.

Watkins will return to Gwinnett County where he coached 13 of 14 seasons prior to coming to Lambert, most recently as the head girls’ basketball coach at Parkview where the Lady Panthers went 59-2 and won consecutive Region 8-AAAAAA titles.

Watkins also coached the Shiloh boys, North Gwinnett girls and Lanier boys. The veteran coach won the 600th game of his career with Lambert on Jan. 18.
