PREP ROUNDUP: South baseball upsets West in region game

A recap of Forsyth high school sports action

BASEBALL

South Forsyth 3, West Forsyth 1

Anthony Trovato helped the War Eagles get a crucial Region 6-AAAAAA victory over the Wolverines on Tuesday at home.

South won its fourth straight to improve to 7-10 overall and 2-4 in the region. West lost its third straight to fall to 11-5 and 3-3.

Trovato got the win on the mound for the War Eagles, allowing nine hits and one run on just 84 pitches over seven innings.

Michael Strait led South at the plate going 2-for-2. Jack Litras had a double, while Justin Graczyk and Horbin Figueroa each added a hit.

Austin Shea took the loss for the Wolverines.

GIRLS GOLF

Lambert 122, West Forsyth 157

The Lady Longhorns cruised against the Lady Wolverines in a Region 6-AAAAAA match Tuesday.

Michaela Owen led Lambert with a score of 38.

GIRLS LACROSSE

South Forsyth 20, Forsyth Central 1

The Lady War Eagles cruised against the Lady Bulldogs in a non-region game Tuesday on the road.

South improved to 6-6 overall. Central fell to 2-8.

GIRLS SOCCER

North Forsyth 2, Cherokee 0

The Lady Raiders had no trouble in their non-region victory Tuesday at home.

North improved to 6-7-1 overall.

Tiffany Raygor had a goal and an assist for the Lady Raiders, while Olivia Dumphy added a goal. Elli Johnson had an assist.

North goalkeeper Sarah Dintino had nine saves.

Harrison 5, South Forsyth 0

The Lady War Eagles were no match for one of the state’s top teams Tuesday in a non-region game on the road.

No. 9-ranked South fell to 9-4-0 overall.

The Lady War Eagles couldn’t mount much of an attack against Harrison, which is 13-0-0 and ranked No. 2 in Class AAAAAA.

West Forsyth 2, Forsyth Central 0

The Lady Wolverines broke a three-game losing streak Tuesday with a non-region victory at home.

West improved to 6-7-0 overall. Central fell to 4-8-0.

Carsen Parker and Chloe Tyler each scored goals for the Lady Wolverines, while Alyssa Robertson had an assist.

BOYS SOCCER

North Forsyth 3, Cherokee 0

Ryan Herbert led the Raiders to a non-region victory Tuesday at home.

North broke a three-game losing streak to improve to 2-11-1 overall.

Herbert had a hat-trick for the Raiders. Jeff Michaud had two assists, while Brandon Herbert also had an assist.

Goalkeeper Javier Ramirez preserved the shutout with 13 saves.

Harrison 3, South Forsyth 1

The War Eagles lost their fourth straight in a non-region game Tuesday on the road.

South fell to 5-9-0 overall.

Juan Sanchez scored the lone goal for the War Eagles with an assist from Daniel Rech.

West Forsyth 7, Forsyth Central 1

Brett Wade had a hat-trick and the Wolverines ended a six-game winless streak Tuesday in a non-region game at home.

West improved to 5-7-1 overall. Central fell to 0-12-0.

Fernando Fernandez, Fabian Mata, Cameron Macer and John Newman each added a goal for the Wolverines.
