PREP ROUNDUP: West girls soccer hangs on against South

BASEBALL

Lambert 12, South Forsyth 1

The Longhorns used a seven-run fourth inning to pull away from the War Eagles for a Region 6-AAAAAA victory Friday at home.

No. 1-ranked Lambert improved to 20-0 overall and 8-0 in the region. South fell to 7-12 and 2-6.

Dylan Biumi got the win for the Longhorns, allowing just one earned run over 4 1/3 innings while striking out five.

Seth Beer led Lambert at the plate with three hits and three RBIs. Tucker Maxwell had two hits and three RBIs.

GIRLS SOCCER

Lambert 5, North Forsyth 3

The Lady Longhorns scored two goals in the final 18 minutes to earn a Region 6-AAAAAA victory against the Lady Raiders on Friday on the road.

Lambert improved to 8-6-0 overall and 3-3-0 in the region. North fell to 6-8-1 and 0-6-0.

Keely Cartrett, Catie Colbert, Maddie Eddleman, Maggie Hanusek and Shannon Lilly accounted for the Lady Longhorns’ goals.

West Forsyth 3, South Forsyth 2

Brooke Pirkle scored twice and the Lady Wolverines held off the Lady War Eagles for a Region 6-AAAAAA win Friday at home.

West improved to 7-7-0 overall and 2-4-0 in the region. South fell to 9-5-0 and 4-2-0.

After a scoreless first half, Pirkle scored in the 42nd and 52nd minutes, while Alyssa Robertson added a goal in the 46th minute.

Rachel Shah scored twice in the 56th and 72nd minutes as South tried to mount a comeback to no avail.

BOYS SOCCER

Osborne 2, Forsyth Central 1

The Bulldogs lost a Region 7-AAAAA game Friday on the road.

Central fell to 0-12-0 overall and 0-8-0 in the region.

Grant Butschek scored the Bulldogs’ lone goal with an assist from Alejandro Romero.

Lambert 6, North Forsyth 1

Logan Willis had three goals as the Longhorns cruised against the Raiders to a Region 6-AAAAAA win Friday on the road.

Lambert improved to 12-2 overall and 5-1 in the region.

Cooper Coughlin added a goal and had five assists from the Longhorns, while Cameron Bennett and Eoin Griffiths each scored a goal.
