SOUTH FORSYTH — Members of the Georgia 400 North Board of Realtors were pleased with their first Homeownership Expo.

The event was held Thursday afternoon at the Lanier Technical College Forsyth Conference Center.

While the board of realtors has presented an expo for the past several years, this was the first time the event was open to the general public and not just those in the real estate field.

Liz Bosker, chairwoman of the event, said the expo drew a strong crowd, particularly in light of its first-time status.

“This is the first time we’ve opened it up and really pushed to have something with the community,” she said. “It kind of bridges the gap a little, because there’s nothing really like this in our community right now.”

About 45 vendors took part in the expo.

“We sold out and we were pretty much on a waiting list at the last minute. We opened it up not just to real estate companies that are usually a part of expos, we wanted landscapers, moving companies, decorators, things like that, something a little different.”

According to vendors, the gathering was worthwhile.

“This has always been a great event when it was just for Realtors and now it’s open to the public, which is wonderful,” said Kathy Johnson, owner of North Georgia Lending in north Forsyth.

“We’ve had a lot of traffic by our booth and it’s been a good day.”
