Leadership Forsyth class to dedicate project

Walk/garden area at armory honors fallen Georgia National Guard members

POSTED: May 1, 2014 12:05 a.m.

CUMMING — Members of this year’s Leadership Forsyth class invited the public to a dedication ceremony for their class project, a commemorative walk and garden area at the National Guard armory.

The event is set for noon to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Cumming Regional Readiness Center, 100 Aquatic Circle.

Each year, members of the current Leadership Forsyth class choose a project that can be completed by the time they graduate in May, but that will leave a lasting legacy in the community.

Members of the 2014 class held fundraisers for the project, which they also designed and built.

The walk and garden area is in honor to all fallen Georgia National Guard members, and will offer the public a place to come to reflect on the sacrifices of servicemen and women.

Saturday’s dedication ceremony is free and open to the public.

Leadership Forsyth is an eight-month-long leadership training program which helps emerging Forsyth leaders lean more about the community. Each fall, a new class of about 35 members is selected from community nominations.
