Carnahan, local athletes shine at girls state track meet

Several Forsyth County students competed in this week’s GHSA Girls State Track and Field Championships, which took place at Hugh Mills Stadium at Albany High School.

West’s Chandler Randall, who finished third in the long jump at the Class AAAAAA East Sectionals, earned seventh at state with a jump of 16 feet 11.5 inches.

South’s Savannah Carnahan received second place in the 1600 meter run with a time of 5:03.70, just ahead of West Forsyth’s Haley Anderson. Carnahan also finished second in the 3200 meter, 10:55.62. West Forsyth's Liz Galarza finished in 11:20.70 to place ninth. Carnahan's teammate Milicent Bergey finished 14th (11:36.30).

Jessica Johnson of North Forsyth hit 33-5.0 in the triple jump, good for 16th in the event.
