Culmination of arts education program

POSTED: June 18, 2014 12:03 a.m.

MARIETTA — Eight Forsyth County residents will be performing tonight during the Broadway Dreams Foundation’s concert “Take It to the Limit” in Atlanta.

The foundation is a performing arts education group that operates six intensive programs around the country every summer, including one in the Atlanta area.

According to a news release from the foundation, tonight’s concert is the culmination of a five-day program.

Among the local performers are Maggie Arias, Chase and Indigo Crandell (and their father, Matt Crandell, who is a foundation board member), Camden Croucher, Elizabeth “Becky” Flaherty, Maddison McDearmont and David Morton.

Ryan Ratelle, general manager of the foundation, said more than 70 students are participating in the Atlanta.

According to Ratell, the instructors are teaching students new work they are developing, which may later go onto Broadway and off-Broadway stages.

“This year in Atlanta there’s more of a spin on new work,” Ratelle said. “They’re working on new material that’s not been done before.”

The concert is set for 7:30 p.m. at the Atlanta Lyric Theatre’s Jennie T. Anderson Theater, 548 South Marietta Pkwy., S.E., in Marietta.
