NORTHEAST FORSYTH — A local Girl Scout camp is in need of donations and supplies in order to remain open, officials say.

Camp Lanier, located on Lake Lanier in northeastern Forsyth County, offers Girl Scouts the opportunity to build leadership skills, spend time outdoors and get to know each other.

The camp is in need of a backpack blower, zero turn mower, utility vehicle with a dump bed and pickup truck, according to Teresa Laird, fund development manager for Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia.

Laird said the camp also could use a storage building for kayaks, which are currently kept in the restrooms.

In addition, the organization always welcomes volunteers who can assist with maintenance of the property.

Debbie Bradberry, assistant property director for the Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia’s nine camps, said about 1,500 to 2,000 people use Camp Lanier each summer.

Other groups such as Boy Scout troops and church youth groups can rent the site for their own activities.

To make a monetary donation, visit, and to make another donation or volunteer in person, call Laird at (706) 621-5979.
