Jesse’s House staging hole-in-one fundraiser

POSTED: July 28, 2014 12:02 a.m.

DAWSONVILLE — Jesse’s House, a local shelter for girls ages 7-17, is holding a golf fundraiser Friday.

However, the event isn’t a traditional tournament. Instead, participants will attempt to make a hole in one from a golf ball tee onto a pontoon boat.

“It’s the first time this event has ever been done,” said Nancy Perry, who is on the board of directors for Jesse’s House. “It’s kind of unique.”

Anyone who accomplishes the feat will win $25,000.

Perry said all proceeds will go to Jesse’s House and will help cover the costs of the residents’ daily needs or outings.

The organization offers emergency and long-term care to adolescent girls who have dealt with abuse or delinquency, and the house serves as an emergency shelter.

The fundraiser costs $50 per person. The cost includes dinner, two drink tickets, dessert and a chance to hit a ball onto the boat.

Ingram Funeral Home in Cumming is co-sponsoring the event, which is set for 7 p.m. at Crystal Falls Golf and Country Club in Dawsonville.

“It should be fun,” Perry said. “It’s not your average golf tournament.”
