Work begins on assisted living community

POSTED: August 9, 2014 3:30 p.m.

SOUTH FORSYTH — Construction has begun on a new assisted living and memory care community in south Forsyth.

Aspire Development Partners and The Arbor Company, both Atlanta-based firms, recently announced construction of the project, which is expected to add some 300 operational and construction jobs to the area.

The site is on Peachtree Parkway near the entrance to Laurel Springs Golf & Country Club.

The community, called The Arbor Terrace of Johns Creek, will include 100 resident suites with 30 units dedicated as a “state-of-the-art memory care neighborhood,” according to information on the project from the Cumming-Forsyth County Chamber of Commerce.

David R. Hink, managing partner for Aspire, said he and others are “excited about bringing this quality of senior living to Forsyth County, especially considering the exceptional growth and development in the area.”

“As a local resident, I have seen the population grow in size and age, and the need for a new approach to senior care is overwhelming,” he said in a statement.

The community will feature amenities such as an activity center, beauty salon, spa, bistro and fitness center. Residents will also have access to interactive games and will participate in activities designed to entertain and sharpen mental acuity.

“Our goal is to focus on high quality, compassionate care, and the most progressive approaches to senior living,” said Judd Harper, president of The Arbor Company, in a statement.

Choate Construction is building the facility, which is set to open in late summer 2015.
