NORTH FORSYTH — A two-hour search Monday in the Hampton Golf subdivision ended with the capture of a man who fled from a traffic stop in the north Forsyth neighborhood.

According to the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, Chase Alvin Chambers ran away after the vehicle in which he was riding was stopped at about noon.

Robin Regan, a spokesman for the sheriff’s office, said a deputy stopped the car after recognizing Chambers as a passenger. Chambers was wanted for violating his probation on false imprisonment and battery charges, both related to family violence.

It wasn’t immediately clear what Chambers had done to violate his probation.

After the traffic stop, deputies pursued Chambers on foot through the Hampton Golf Course, according to Regan. They then set up a perimeter and began using a tracking dog to hunt for him.

Deputies later learned that Chambers could be at a home on Oakcreek Crossing, which is part of a subdivision northeast of where he had last been seen.

Chambers, who was one of two men found hiding in the home’s basement, was arrested at 2:33 p.m., Regan said.

He faces at least one new charge, misdemeanor obstruction. The other man will not be charged, according to the sheriff’s office.
