PREP ROUNDUP: Huey leads South Forsyth softball to region win

SOFTBALL

Lambert 24, Centennial 0

ROSWELL – The Lady Longhorns bounced back from their first loss of the season with a dominating Region 6-AAAAAA victory Tuesday on the road.

Lambert improved to 7-1 overall and 5-0 in the region.

Senior Audrey Merrill got the win with seven strikeouts.

South Forsyth 8, Johns Creek 0

Katherine Huey threw a complete-game shutout to lead the Lady War Eagles to a Region 6-AAAAAA victory Tuesday at home.

South improved to 6-2-1 overall and 4-1 in the region.

Huey gave up no walks and one hit while striking out 11 in the win. She also went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs.

Bianca Mora went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI, while Maddie Clawson and Emily Harris each added two hits.

West Forsyth 10, Northview 4

Kayla Hardy had two home runs and six RBIs to power the Lady Wolverines to a Region 6-AAAAAA victory Tuesday at home.

West improved to 4-3 overall and 3-2 in the region.

Hardy connected for two 3-run home runs.

The Lady Wolverines also got standout performances from Hayla Seitz (2-for-3, two 2Bs, BB 3 Rs), Bailley Concatto (2-for-2, R) and Alana Frye (2-for-4, 3B, 2 RBI).

Kelly Carpenter got the win on the mound.

VOLLEYBALL

Forsyth Central sweeps

SUWANEE – Julia Jaison had 13 kills to lead the Lady Bulldogs to wins against Dacula (25-17, 20-25, 25-23) and host Collins Hill (25-19, 26-28, 25-15) on Tuesday in non-area matches.

Central improved to 7-3 this season.

Sarah Whittington added 12 kills for the Lady Bulldogs, while Amber Waddell had 42 digs and Liepa Vaicekaviciute had 12 aces.

North Forsyth sweeps

The Lady Raiders swept a non-area tri-match Tuesday with wins over Heritage (26-24, 25-21) and Locust Grove (25-23, 25-16) at home.

North improved to 8-5 on the season.

Bri Gilbert led the Lady Raiders with 13 kills. Okwunne Ogbogu had 11 kills and Marin Black added seven aces.

South Forsyth sweeps

MILTON – The Lady War Eagles swept a non-area tri-match with wins against Cambridge (25-21, 27-25) and Shiloh (25-4, 25-12) on Tuesday.

South improved to 7-6 on the season.

Taylor Svehla led the Lady War Eagles against Cambridge with 11 kills while Hannah Larson had 15 assists.

Courtney Darling had five aces against Shiloh.

West Forsyth sweeps

Savannah Butler had 13 kills to lead the Lady Wolverines to wins over Cherokee (25-20, 25-20) and Troup County (25-12, 25-12) in non-area matches on Tuesday.

West improved to 16-0 this season.

Taylor Ashcraft added nine kills and eight digs, Shelby Lance had nine kills and Chloe Lance added eight kills.

Jordan Leitch had 31 assists and five aces for the Lady Wolverines, while Gabby Brachner had nine assists, Danielle Menningman had six digs and Caroline Frye had four kills and three aces.
