Deputy’s death announced by Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office

Authorities say that a deputy with the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office has died while attending a training academy in North Georgia.

On Thursday evening, the sheriff’s office announced that 29-year-old Forsyth County Sheriff's Office Deputy Spencer Englett suffered a traumatic medical event and collapsed during his first day of training at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center in Pickens County.

A release from the sheriff’s office states that Englett was rushed to Piedmont Mountainside Medical Center in Jasper, but was unable to be revived by medical staff and first responders.

Englett had served with the sheriff’s office since May 1, 2017, he had previously worked for the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office and was recently married the release added.

“He was an exemplary deputy who served Forsyth County with distinction and honor,” the release said. “We ask all to keep Deputy Englett’s wife and family, as well as the FCSO family, in your prayers during this difficult time.”
