Man injured in tractor accident

POSTED: June 19, 2014 4:55 p.m.

NORTH FORSYTH — An elderly man suffered serious injuries Thursday afternoon when he was run over by a farm tractor, authorities said.

According to Forsyth County Fire Division Chief Jason Shivers, the accident was discovered about 1 p.m.

Shivers said the man, whose name has not been released, had been working in a field about a quarter of a mile from Browns Bridge Road near Waldrip Road. Officials aren’t sure how long he had lain there.

According to Shivers, the man was conscious and able to talk. But worried about possible internal injuries, emergency personnel considered his condition life threatening.

Although traffic on Browns Bridge was never affected, Waldrip was closed for a short time to allow a medical helicopter to land.

The man was flown to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta for treatment.
