Soccer: Mitchell's 4 goals power Forsyth Central past North Forsyth

POSTED: April 13, 2017 5:14 p.m.

It took Forsyth Central’s Gavin Mitchell just five minutes to break Wednesday’s game against North Forsyth wide open.

Mitchell scored a hat trick within the first 10 minutes of the game in route to a four-goal performance to lead his Bulldogs to a 5-0 win over the visiting Raiders.

“When everything clicks, it just kind of works,” Mitchell said. “For me, it all depends on my first shot. If I usually make the first chance I have, everything kind of clicks.

“When I scored the first one, I knew I was going to get another one.”

Mitchell scored his first goal on a header off a corner kick. His next two we strikes to the upper part of the net from the right side of the pitch. Mitchell scored his fourth goal of the game after outrunning two North defenders before burying it past the keeper.

“I’m very pleased with (Mitchell’s) play tonight,” Central head coach Will Gifford said. “He had a couple chances and he was able to put them on frame. He was able to finish his chances.”

Central added another tally late when Vinny Pinheiro scored off a pass from Christian Patino to make it a 5-0 final.

Central girls 2, North 1

The Uldrich sisters were able to pull out an overtime victory for Forsyth Central over North Forsyth, 2-1.

Lauren Uldrich scored the game tying goal with 10 minutes left in the game after North’s Camby Biddle broke the scoreless draw in the 26th minute of the second half.

Central’s Callie Fagan had a chance to win it, but her shot sailed over the crossbar in the final minute of regulation.

After a scoreless first overtime, Jenna Uldrich was able to fight her way through a scrum in front of the North net to tap in the eventual game-winner with just under four minutes left.

“That was a good combo on their part,” Central coach Angela Camp said about the two sisters.

The Bulldogs were able to kill off the remaining time for the 2-1 come-from-behind win.
