Track & Field: Zimmer leads Lambert at Georgia Tech

Lambert’s track & field teams set both meet and team records at the Georgia Tech Coaches Invitational, held Friday and Saturday in Atlanta. 

Lady Longhorns senior Leanne Zimmer took first place in the the 2000 meter steeple chase and set a course record with a time of 7:19.22.

Junior Meghan Upchurch ran a personal best of 13.16 in the 100 meters followed by sophomore teammate Lucy Calhoun with a time of 13.58.

Lambert also posted a season-best for the girls 4x100 meter relay (53.0 seconds), which featured Katie Philmon, Sarah Kate Burkhaulter, Lucy Calhoun and Caroline Neidert. 

The girls sprint medley relay resulted in a season best time of 2:02.26, taking seven minutes off the time posted at previous meets this season. 

Lambert’s distance team qualified in the 4x1600 meter relay for the first time and posted a time of 23:43 behind Megan Gianini, Abby Fox, Jamie Angle and Madeline Gilleland. 

Lambert’s boys team posted a time of 1:44.6 in the sprint medley relay, only one-tenth of a second off the school record. The team consisted of Tyler Bagnato, Steven Barber, Luke St. Laurent and Peter McFarlane. McFarlane also set a school record in the 110 high hurdles with a time of 16.62 followed by Alexander at 16.82. 

Junior Noah Schaich ran a personal best of 10:24 for the two-mile event despite competing with quarter-sized blisters on each foot.
