Lanier at Lambert

When, where: Tonight, 7:30 pm, The Horn in Suwanee.

Records, rankings: Lanier is 0-0 and unranked in Class AAAAA; Lambert is 0-0 and unranked in Class AAAAAA.

Series history: First meeting.

Last meeting: None.

What to know: Lambert gets a chance to end Forsyth County’s struggles against Gwinnett County teams Friday as Class AAAAA Lanier visits The Horn. Lambert’s quarterback situation is still unsettled—Reid Martin, who looked to be in position to win the starting job, missed last Friday’s scrimmage loss to Grayson with a minor leg injury. Richie Kenney didn’t stand out against the swarming Grayson defense. Lambert head coach Louis Daniel said Martin is available and has participated in practice this week.

Lanier features running back Tario Fuller (6-0, 190), a Purdue verbal commit who ran for 1,590 yards and 20 touchdowns last season, and quarterback Canyon Cook (6-0, 170), who threw for 1,286 yards and 16 touchdowns and ran for another 462 yards. Defensive tackle Derrick Brown (6-4, 275) holds offers from Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Georgia and a who’s-who of college powers. Brown is rated by 247 Sports as the No. 58 player in the country for the class of 2016. "They might be AAAAA, but they have Class AAAAAA athletes," Daniel said. "Lanier is like every other Gwinnett County team—big, fast, and strong."
