Lambert put on a show versus in region opponent North Forsyth as they beat the Raiders 9-3 on Wednesday night.

A strong outing by Aidan McAllister helped the Longhorns in that feat. McAllister finished the day pitching five innings giving up only five hits and two runs while striking out seven batters.

“He pitched really well for us in Florida as he only gave up one hit,” Lambert head coach Rick Howard said, “but his main problem down there was walk. I think he did a better job at that tonight as when he got behind in a count he would slow down and work it back.”

But it wasn’t just Aidan who played really well. The other McAllister did well too.

Leadoff man Josh McAllister (no relation) started off the game with a first-pitch, seeing-eye single to lead it off. Josh later scored to give the Longhorns an early 1-0 lead.

Josh finished the day 3-for-3 with an RBI double in the second and a RBI single in the third.

“Josh has been really good for us as of late,” Howard said. “He’s seeing the ball really well and is making good contact.”

Along with Josh, Bobby Gabriel also had a good day at the plate, going 2-for-2 with a RBI single in the second inning.

Gabriel’s RBI single was a part of a six-run second inning for the Longhorns. Lambert loaded the bases and brought home five before North recorded their first out of the inning.

From then on, Lambert was in control. North went through three pitchers in the first three innings and five in total. Raiders’ pitchers combined to allow nine runs (six earned) on 11 hits.

North struggled mightily on defense as they totaled four errors in the ball game versus Lambert’s one.

“That’s one thing we have done really well in the past couple years,” Howard said. “It’s obvious when we don’t give the opponent extra outs to play with we’ve done really well. But in the other end when teams give us extra outs we do a really fine job at executing and converting to score runs.”

With the win, Lambert improved to 9-2 in Region 5-7A to take a three-game lead over three teams tied for second place.
