WEEKEND RECAP: Pinecrest Academy boys lacrosse gets area win at Holy Innocents'

South third at Gwinnett Open

John Lichtenwalner shot a 72 to lead the War Eagles to a third-place finish at the Gwinnett Open this past Saturday.

The event was a modified stableford tournament, which uses a point system: bogey is one point, par is two, birdie is four, etc., etc. Lichtenwalner’s 72 counted for 37 points. South finished with 138 team points.

Judson Meadows shot 74 for 35 points, Barrett Hopper shot 75 for 34 points and Cameron Stokes shot 74 for 32 points.


Pinecrest Academy 17, Holy Innocents 6

ATLANTA – Jack Binkley had four goals and five assists as the Paladins cruised to a big Area 3-1/5A victory Saturday on the road.

Colin Spillane led Pinecrest (8-2, 3-1) with five goals, while Wills Brown had four goals and Carson Holler added three goals and two assists.

Drew Hendren made 10 saves in goal.
