Sawnee EMC school supply drive successful

POSTED: June 17, 2014 2:00 p.m.

CUMMING — School may be out for summer, but that didn’t stop Sawnee EMC employees from collecting backpacks and school supplies in preparation for the 2014-15 year.

Throughout May, Sawnee employees teamed up with members of the Consumer Advisory Task Force to collect the supplies.

During the first “Pack a Backpack” school supply drive, employees donated items such as paper, crayons and notebooks to ensure students are equipped with items they will need when school resumes in August.

Several backpacks were donated to the drive and filled with items for elementary and middle school students.

Additional boxes were also filled with supplies for teachers to use as needed throughout the school year.
